Spring Show Sounds
Our highly anticipated Hayes Valley Spring event is happening this Sunday, May 6th! You already know about all the amazing vendors set to offer the best in sustainable art, fashion, home decor & beauty…but did you know about the incredible LIVE music we have lined up:
Take Zeppelin, Hendrix and Sabbath, throw ’em in a mission tortilla and liberally sprinkle some psychedelic salt and pepper with a dash of wtf, drop ’em down in San Francisco and you have Birds of Fire! Featuring Christopher Blea and Kaden Owens.
Blonde Toledo’s music is a wonderful blend of familiar and new, a melodic nod to American Bandstand danceability with rhythms influenced by a plurality of backgrounds. It’s full of surprises yet firmly based in the traditions of Brill Building pop, Colombian cumbia, jazz and others. The band is lead by Double Sax goddess Connie Walkershaw, bass player Jesse Walkershaw, Latin percussionist Connie, Joe Chavez, drummer Rick Kennon and guitarist Andy Charmatz. The band has just released their first LP “Where’s That Sound” on The Laryngitis Label.
As the lead singer for the Silk Road Truckers, Colton is an important voice of Bay Area rock & roll music. His solo act is a brilliant channeling of soul, rock, and blues music that he creates with an acoustic guitar and a gravelly timbre. Catch him performing loudly and often at San Francisco’s very own Milk Bar on Haight Street! His band The Silk Road Truckers was born in the basement of a Haight Street commune in 2015 and considers their sound as”good time rock & roll”.
Born and raised in California, Becky Mimiaga has been studying voice since age 11. She started writing and performing her own music at age 16 while fronting various rock, folk and blues bands. After finishing her studies in the East Coast, she teamed up with orchestrator/producer Maxim Moston to record Words in the Dark – a highly personal work for voice, piano and orchestral instruments. In the same year, she built a rock band under the guise, LOUIZA. She left NYC for Oakland in 2015 and within that year began recording Party Trick at Tiny Telephone in San Francisco. Currently, Rebecca is mixing her second LOUIZA album.
Maximum Poltergeist began four years ago as a way to explore the minds and lives of various species surviving this planet, and has since moved into space, imagining the leftovers of the final frontier. Luckily, it’s done tactfully, or with the pretense of tact, so nobody really gets hurt. In the end, the dance survives.
Northern California’s own indie pop artist Michelle Lambert is known for her strong, passionate and versatile voice, as can be heard when she’s spitting rapid fire lyrics in her new single “My California”. The electro-acoustic violin is her axe and it hits you like she’s shredding an electric guitar. Her influences are Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran and Adele. Her partner Robbie brings it on the acoustic guitar with driving rhythms, tight arrangements and percussion hits that take over the stage. Michelle has performed in acclaimed venues such as The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and the Great American Music Hall in SF (opening for John Mayer). She’s now making waves in the Bay Area and playing festivals and venues all over California.
ONE MAN BANJO
A One Man Banjo show is an energetic experience that incites movement, dancing, the clapping of hands, participation & a couple of sing-alongs. It combines old time tunes in a unique rhythmic fashion that creates a slightly dark yet vibrant experience.
Reisender’s music features an eclectic mix of 80s-reminiscent synths and drums, grooving mandolin riffs, cement bucket drum samples, and unadulterated indie pop hooks. The result is a sound comparable to groups such as Two Door Cinema Club, Tame Impala, Washed Out, and Miike Snow. Conroy’s greatest personal influences are Paul Simon, Damon Albarn, Pixies, and Paul McCartney.
