It’s Monday. You take a brisk shower to wash off the weekend, throw on some clothes and brave the Muni. While flipping through your morning emails and planning the day’s agenda, a realization hits: You’ve got 4 days to put a Valentine’s Day gift together!
Before you have a mini panic attack and gag on your latte, know that you don’t have to spend the $$ on overnight shipping when you buy local. Lucky for us, we’ve got the lowdown on what our Bay Area makers are cookin’ up for Love Day… and we’ve hand selected items from Urban Air Market vendors that are ready to ship and sure to please.
UAM Valentine’s Day Picks | For Her
Instead of picking up a box of stale chocolates from the corner store, consider these VDay picks “For Her” – sure to make your partner’s face light up.
1. Red & White Geo Enamel Pendant by Iris Willow (San Francisco) $52
Hand-cut from copper and kiln-fired with white powdered glass enamel, this pendant is screen printed with a hypnotic red and white geo pattern. It’s finished with a 20″ sterling silver chain- although we hear you can request a shorter chain if desired.
2. “Charlotte” Bracelet by Thesis of Alexandria (San Francisco) $120
Elegantly minimal, this delightfully dainty bracelet includes 10pt pave diamond in 14kt gold. We like it because it is a sweet gesture of affection and something a girl can layer or wear with anything.
3. 14K Rose Gold Tiny Heart Studs by Altana Marie (San Francisco) $175
Each of these lovely heart-shaped earrings are hand sculpted and therefore embody their own uniqueness. When you purchase a pair, you not only put a smile on your lady’s face, but fifty percent of the proceeds of your purchase are also donated to shelters in the San Francisco Bay Area supporting victims of domestic violence.
4. Angelic 8.5 oz Candle by Penelope Co. (Oakland) $22
First off, we love Penelope Co. candles because they are hand-poured and made from soy– a natural, renewable source. Second of all, this one smells like Thierry Mugler’s Angel perfume. We’re sold. Smells earthy and divine: an infusion of bergamot and patchouli.
5. Vintage Button Necklace by Compass Rose Designs (San Francisco) $84
Did we mentioned that we adore vintage? Made from a vintage Czech glass button (from 1920-1950), this scarlet red necklace features a flourish of gold blossoms over a translucent shimmering red background. On the back of the necklace you’ll find a brass compass rose design. Could be the compass to her heart…
6. Sweetheart Corset by Dark Garden (San Francisco) $390
Given you know your lady’s curves, might we suggest a sultry corset to accentuate what her mama gave her? We like Dark Garden’s Sweetheart Corset because it hugs in just the right places and flatters nearly every body type.
7. “Happy Hippo in Love” Card by Amy Rose Moore Designs (San Francisco) $5
It’s a hippo, he’s adorable… we’re all for it. With original artwork by local artist Amy Rose Moore, the painting/sketch is printed onto fine art paper and adhered onto heavyweight brown Kraft card stock. The card is available blank or with the caption: “You put the boom-boom into my heart!” and comes with a 100% recycled brown Kraft grocer style envelope.
UAM Valentine’s Day Picks | For Him
Ok, so he’s a keeper. Show him how much you appreciate all of his quirks with one or two of these trinkets d’amour.
1. X O Cufflinks by Compass Rose Designs (San Francisco) $48
Nothing says Valentine’s Day like X and O cufflinks. We especially dig these ones because they are hand-stamped in rustic vintage metals. A lasting gift your lover will treasure 4ever.
2. “LoveSong” Crow and San Francisco by Amy Rose Moore Designs (San Francisco) $5
What better way to share your undying love, and your pride for the city, than with the Love Song greeting card. Comes with a beautiful up-cycled, cream-colored envelope with a deckled edge.
3. 12′ Marquee Letters by Bernal Burrow (San Francisco) starting at $43
You + Him = Love. We like the marquee letters because they double as a housewarming gift. And if things don’t work out, you can always letternap your initial, take it home and decorate it with succulents.
4. Men’s Heart Thinking Heart T-shirt by Mission Thread (San Francisco) $19.99
Get him something that feels great on his bod. We like this super soft tee that’s screen-printed with water-based inks. You’ll never need to know what he’s thinking about.
5. Wilderness Cologne by Juniper Ridge at Foggy Notion (San Francisco) $60
Although his manly musk gets you going, treat him to one of these unisex fragrances aka “back packers colognes”. We like ’em because they are made in small batches and distilled from plants, conifers, bark, moss, mushrooms, and other things found hiking in the backcountry. They also come in super cute bottles with hand-carved cedar tops.
6. The Hunter by Beneduci Shoes (San Francisco) $695
He was up for the hunt when he met you, so get him these sleek desert boots. He’ll feel a new sense of sophisticated wearing the two-toned leather, in Italian Nubuck and American Calfskin, with brass rivets. Grrrrowl.
7. All Salve by FATM at Foggy Notion (San Francisco) $14
This organic salve comes in handy everyday. It’s great for healing scrapes, cuts, burns and bites and you can use it as luxurious lip balm. Pucker up! It also has healing and regenerating medicinal properties.
